Festival of Museums events at the D'Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum

From the Curator of Museum Services at the University of Dundee :

Two family events for Festival of Museums 2016 :

Saturday 14th May, 2pm-4.30pm

Fossils and Ferns: The Hunt is On!

Get your magnifying glasses at the ready and dust off those detective hats because some sneaky fossils and ferns have found their way into our displays in the museum and we need your help to find them all!    So round up your friends and family and head over to the museum to take part in our quiz and fossil hunt festivities.   Whilst exploring the museum you’ll also learn some amazing things about dinosaurs and the environment they lived in.    It’ll be a roaring good time so come and join us!

Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book.

Sunday 15th May, various times

Getting Crafty with Fossils and Ferns

Get your creative juices flowing with the University Museum Collections’ rarely seen fossils and ferns on show in the Zoology Museum!   Be inspired by everything on display to design your very own jute bag to take away using a variety of colours and materials. We have paints, badges, stencils and stamps - fun for the whole family!

This is a free event, but booking is essential.   There are three sessions available at 10am, 12 noon and 2.30pm and tickets are available here.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.    If you are assisting another person but not planning on designing a bag yourself, you need only to book for the person using the materials but please contact us to let us know.

Please enter through the main door of the Carnelley Building off Park Place. Admission to all events is free.

Festival of Museums (#FoM2016) is an annual 3-day treat of extraordinary, exciting and surprising events day and night in museums and galleries throughout Scotland.
