We recently received complaints about potholes and road surface deterioration of the road surface in Clayhills Drive, particularly close to where the road goes past the electricity sub-station about two-third of the way up the road.

Michael is pictured here and we raised this issue with the Roads Maintenance Partnership.

We have since been advised that an Order had been raised to repair the road here.

I have recently received residents' concerns about the need for repairs to the roads surface in Clayhills Drive - see photos below.

I therefore raised this with the City Council's Roads Maintenance Partnership, requesting repairs and have been promised that an Order for pothole repairs to be carried out has now been raised.

Following some pothole repairs in Clayhills Drive, residents asked me if the promised improvements to the road surface would still be possible this year, so I took this matter up with the council's Roads Maintenance Partnership.

The partnership manager has responded positively as follows :

"We are currently only undertaking essential works, which in reference to Clayhills Drive has been the filling of potholes which constituted a safety defect.

Planned maintenance works, such as scheme patching and resurfacing, are to recommence once operating restrictions are relaxed.  

I can confirm it is our intension to undertake planned structural inlay patching works at Clayhills Drive in the current financial year.

When we recommence operations it’ll be on a phased return basis over the first month. The existing planned works programme has gone awry following lockdown. In addition to the implications of a phased resource return, we will also have a compressed summer window to undertake the seasonal works activities like surface dressing, footway slurry sealing, school playground resurfacing etc. 

We also have new priority projects such as the Spaces for People 20mph and traffic management projects, plus the completion of committed timescale works and works suspended at lockdown. 

We are reviewing the programme constraints however it is likely that structural inlay sites such as Clayhills Drive will move backwards in the delivery year to Autumn/Winter."

I have recently received complaints about the poor road condition of parts of Clayhills Drive.

I took this matter up with the City Council's Roads Maintenance Partnership and have received the following potentially positive response :

"Structural inlays at various location in Clayhills Drive are provisionally scheduled to be carried out in March/ April of this year, subject to budget availability."

I have asked to be kept updated by the Roads Maintenance Partnership on this given the poor state of parts of the road here.

A number of constituents have contacted me about the deteriorating state of the road in Clayhills Drive near its entrance.

I reported this to the City Council's Roads Maintenance Partnership and have been given the following helpful response :

"The Road Maintenance inspector has raised an order for pothole repairs to be done with a timescale for completion of approximately thirty days. 

He will continue to monitor the condition of the carriageway during routine inspection and any actionable defects noted will be repaired to ensure safety is maintained."

Lighting problem resolved #dundeewestend

I am pleased to say, after considerable correspondence I have had with various parties, the lighting in the pathway from Simpson Avenue in the Ninewells Village hospital housing down to Clayhills Drive is now finally repaired and working again - see left :

The lighting had been out of action for some time and there was a question mark as to who had responsibility for this lighting which sits south of the Ninewells Hospital grounds and north of Clayhills Drive.

I am grateful to all parties I have contacted for moving this forward - NHS Tayside, Netlach (who manage the Ninewells housing site), the factors of the Clayhills Drive/Ninian's View development and the council's Street Lighting Partnership.

The path was previously extremely dark at this location at night and it is much safer now the lighting is back on.

I have received residents' complaints about graffiti on the north side of Clayhills Drive (see right).

I have reported this to the City Council's Rapid Response Team requesting that the graffiti is removed.
