A guid Hogmanay!

Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd monie a weary fit,
Sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.

And there's a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o thine,
And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne

Perth Road bus services #dundeewestend

As residents will be aware, Xplore Dundee has unfortunately now confirmed it will press ahead from Sunday 13th January re-routing Service 5 up Glamis Road and Dickson Avenue and away from Perth Road west of Glamis Road.

I will continue to press Xplore to think again over this change as it disadvantages a large community in the western end of Perth Road.

However, in better news, the Stagecoach Service X54 is now stopping on Perth Road at Millbay Terrace and Clayhills Grove, meaning that - at last - there is a stopping bus service on Perth Road west of Ninewells Avenue.

Come prepared to laugh!

It starts at 8pm and is free of charge but reservations recommended by emailing info@newscottish.org

Getting things done - Blackness Library #dundeewestend

I recently contacted Leisure and Culture Dundee about the state of the railings at Blackness Library, following residents saying that these badly need repainted.

I suggested that Community Payback could be approached to undertake this and am pleased to have now been advised that this has been agreed.

The railings will be programmed in to be completed in the spring.

Dundee Botanic Garden event #dundeewestend

The Friends of the University of Dundee Botanic Garden have organised a talk on Historic gardens of Scotland - by Sue Hewer, Scotland’s Garden and Landscape Heritage.

Taking place in the Education Centre (pictured) in the Garden tomorrow - Sunday 9th December - at 2pm.

The talk will discuss why and how the design of gardens and landscapes changes over time and what an understanding of those changes can contribute to our knowledge of social, cultural, economic, scientific and technological history.

All welcome!
