We raised this with the council's Roads Maintenance Partnership to ensure repairs are carried out and this has since taken place.

Seafield Road, Dundee - closed from its westmost end (in cul-de-sac) extending for a distance of no more than 20 metres in an easterly direction to facilitate a site access for a new housing development until November 2025.

Blinshall Street (Douglas Street to 50 metres south) - closed until April 2025 for construction works.

Douglas Street (Blinshall Street to Brown Street) - temporary traffic lights until April 2025 for construction works.

Brown Street (south of Douglas Street) - closed until April 2025 for construction works.

Riverside Avenue/Dykes of Gray Road (at Swallow roundabout) - closed Monday to Friday overnight (7.00pm to 7.00am) from Monday 1 July 2024 for 10 months for junction improvement works.

A90 Kingsway (at Swallow roundabout) – overnight (7.30pm to 6.30am Monday - Friday) contraflow from Monday 1 July 2024 for 10 months for third party works.

Lochee Road (at Tullideph Road) – temporary traffic lights from Wednesday 8 January for 2 weeks for Scotland Gas Network work.

Perth Road (at Windsor Street) – temporary traffic lights from Monday 13 January to Wednesday 15 January for Scottish Water work.

Ure Street (Ure Street to Hawkhill) – closed southbound from Monday 13 January to Wednesday 15 January for Scottish and Southern Energy Network work.

Forthcoming Roadworks

Polepark Road – temporary traffic lights from Thursday 23 to Saturday 25 January for Scottish Water.

Ancrum Road (at Muirton Road) – temporary traffic lights Tuesday 28 January for one week for one week for Scottish Water work.

Abbotsford Place (Blackness Avenue to 19 Abbotsford Place) – closed from Monday 3 February for footway resurfacing works.

Westgrove Avenue – closed at its junction with Perth Road and for approximately 30 metres northwards for Scottish Water works commencing 3 February for 5 days.

Dundee Civic Trust's first public talk of 2025 takes place next Thursday - 16th January - at 7pm at the Dundee Art Society Gallery in Roseangle.

Professor Fionn Stevenson will speak about ‘Earth, timber, hemp and straw: the better way to build today’.

Buildings account for 40% of global carbon emissions today, and are drastically increasing climate change.

How can we build more benignly?

Biogenic construction offers an alternative set of robust materials to challenge the dominance of steel and concrete which are a major source of pollution. 

This talk will introduce you to international and local exemplar buildings and products that can be used for both new buildings and retrofit projects, with a nod to some traditional techniques too.

All welcome!

** UPDATE - 11th January 2025 ** We are advised that the talk on ‘Earth, timber, hemp and straw: the better way to build today’ will now take place on 20th February 2025.

The meeting next Thursday - 16th January - at 7pm at the Dundee Art Society Gallery in Roseangle will still go ahead and will, instead have a talk on The Wellgate Project by Dr Erin Farley of Dundee Libraries.

Tayside Children and Young People’s Speech and Language Therapy Service

The NHS Tayside Children and Young People's Speech and Language Therapy Service's advice line is available on Dundee 740317.

The service offers advice, guidance, reassurance, and strategies for parents, carers, and professionals who have concerns about a child or young person's speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties.

The advice line is open on Tuesdays from 9.30am to 11.30am and Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm.

Getting things done - West Port #dundeewestend

We recently received concerns that a parking sign in West Port was damaged and leaning over.

We therefore reported this to the roads maintenance partnership and an Order has been raised to repair this.

Recycling your Christmas Tree

If you have a real Christmas tree, you can recycle it.

Residents can arrange for a free pick-up of their tree, or take it to your nearest recycling centre.
