West End Community Fridge success! #dundeewestend

We'd like today to give a big shout out to our friends at Transition Dundee for the continuing success of the West End Community Fridge.

As Transition Dundee says :

"Everyone who visits the West End Community Fridge becomes a Food Waste Warrior as all the food we get is surplus and may have ended up in landfill.

Last month we had 2,143 visits with 4,859 people ultimately benefitting from the food we gave out.

The Community Fridge is open to everyone and no referrals are needed. Pop along during our opening times Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 2pm and always bring a bag."

Back by popular demand, this is aimed at beginners, showing participants how to use a crochet hook, before moving on to the different stitches.

Transition Dundee will provide all the materials, as well as refreshments throughout and a light vegetarian lunch.

This class is open to anyone over the age of 12, though 12 - 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.

West End Community Fridge - opening times #dundeewestend

🍎🥦🥕

Just a reminder that the West End Community Fridge is open five days a week. No referral is needed and everyone is welcome!

The fridge volunteers are often asked about the opening times and why it is not open later. The reason it is open from 11am to 2pm is because volunteers collect the food early in the morning - and so that as many local people as possible can come along during lunch breaks.

The fridge is also open on Saturdays so that those who can't get there during the week can also access it.
