West End Community Fridge - opening times #dundeewestend

🍎🥦🥕

Just a reminder that the West End Community Fridge is open five days a week. No referral is needed and everyone is welcome!

🍎🥦🥕

The fridge volunteers are often asked about the opening times and why it is not open later. The reason it is open from 11am to 2pm is because volunteers collect the food early in the morning - and so that as many local people as possible can come along during lunch breaks.

The fridge is also open on Saturdays so that those who can't get there during the week can also access it.

Friends of Wighton Cappuccino Concert

Tomorrow - Saturday 29th June - 11am – noon (doors open 10.30am).

Essa Flett – The Selkie’s Wife

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “A bewitching performance” - Binge Fringe Magazine

From the creator of ROOTS (Fringe 2019) and cast member of the hit 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Bradán Theatre show My Lover Was A Salmon in the Climate Apocalypse, comes a ‘bewitching’ (Binge Fringe Magazine) new solo folk storytelling performance.

Join Elisabeth Flett as she gives the audience a decidedly sapphic retelling of the Selkie tale- that is, she’ll try to, if her own story would only stop getting in the way. A tour de force of Flett’s award-winning career as a folk musician, folklorist, writer and theatre-maker, The Selkie’s Wife is a show full of live music, academic fun facts, storytelling, foley art - and maybe some queer revenge…

Suitable for 14+

Content Warnings: descriptions of institutional homophobia, sexism, non- consensual marriage, chronic illness and one use of strong violence (no depictions of the above are shown in the show), one use of strong language.

Admission £5 Coffee/tea available for small donation

"Thanks for your below email concerning the weeds within the Hillside area.

I can confirm that our operative has recently attended the area to apply contact herbicide.

Getting things done - Annfield Street #dundeewestend

Along the south side of Annfield Street, traditionally there have been four benches  but unfortunately although two are still in usable condition, one is badly damaged [see photo] and another is now completely missing.

We raised this with our local environment manager following residents highlighting this with us and have received the following helpful response :

"Presently there are currently three benches in situ within Annfield Street.   I have made several enquiries with regards to the missing bench at the Annfield Road end to determine the reason for removal. I can only assume at this time that the bench was removed due to damage and disrepair.

I have submitted a request to our Construction Services colleagues for replacement wooden slats to be fitted to the bench with rotten seating slats.

The eastern end of Annfield Street I am assuming ... is the location of the missing bench.   There are vehicles parking at this location.   Presently I am sourcing a suitable reconditioned / recycled bench that can be installed here for resident/public use and once installed this will prevent vehicles parking (on the pavement)."
