Working for the West End ...

This afternoon, I attended part of the Balgay Stakeholders’ Group meeting at Lochee Park. The group is a good opportunity for the Friends of Balgay, city councillors and Leisure and Communities Department staff to discuss issues affecting Balgay Park and Hill.

I had to leave early as I was chairing the final formal meeting of the West End Christmas Week Committee for the 2009 event. We had a very produ
ctive meeting – Christmas Week 2009 (West End Xmas Factor) is looking great and we’ll be announcing the full details in the next few days. The meeting ended with a very (very!) wet site visit to Seabraes to finalise all health and safety issues regarding the fireworks display and carnival. One soaked Fraser thereafter …!

This evening, after my weekly surgery at Blackness Primary School, I attended the monthly meeting of Community Spirit, the community group for Pentland, Ancrum and the Cleghorn area. There was an excellent discussion on various local issues including roads, parking, graffiti, recycling and raising the Community Spirit profile. I have raised a number of issues with the City Council arising out of the meeting.
