Final day of the West End Christmas Fortnight #dundeewestend


Today marks the last day of the West End Christmas Fortnight and here's what is on :

10am to 4pm – DJCAD Design and Craft Pop-Up Shop – Matthew Building, 13 Perth Road – unique Christmas presents made by DJCAD graduates, plus art materials for gifts and making cards or decorations.

10.15am – Pilates – Blackness Library – for further information contact pilatesforyou3@gmail.com

11.30am – Baby Bookbug – at Blackness Library and also 2.30pm – Bookbug – same location – all welcome!

4pm to 5.15pm – Social Knitting Group – at The Wardrobe, 112 Nethergate. All abilities welcome, free and no booking needed.

7pm to 9pm – West End Community & Business Awards night – The Vine.   All welcome!   Guest speaker is Professor Rob Duck who will speak on “Dundee’s West End – The Lost Coastal Paradise of Will’s Braes”.   Call Dundee 459378 for more information. 

7pm – Dundee Naturalists Society Christmas meeting – Dundee Science Centre – A presentation on Carsgowniemuir Quarry by Jim Cook – all welcome – includes refreshments.

7.30pm - Lydian Singers Christmas Concert – Dundee Westgait Church Roseangle - A lovely festive end to Christmas Fortnight from this wonderful Dundee ladies choir.

REPORT FOR THE WEST END WARD - WEEK COMMENCING MONDAY 8 DECEMBER 2025

Old Hawkhill - road closed from approximately 50m south of Hunter Street (building defect) from 9 October 2025 for approximately 3-6 months.

Peddie Street – give and take traffic control from Monday 8 December 2025 for 2 weeks for lighting works.

Perth Road (near Ninewells Avenue) – temporary traffic lights on Tuesday 9 December (9.00am to 4.00pm) for Scottish Water work.

Nethergate (at West Marketgait) – off‑peak (9.30am to 3.30pm) temporary traffic lights and lane closures on Wednesday 10 December for Scottish Water work.

Hawkhill (at Tait’s Lane) – overnight (9.00pm to 6.00am) temporary traffic lights on Thursday 11 December for BT work.

Forthcoming Roadworks

Strawberrybank – closed for its entire length from Monday 15 December for one week for drainage works.

Westfield Place (opposite Number 9) – closed from Monday 15 December for 5 days for Scottish Water work.

Dundee Libraries' At Home Library Service is designed for people living in Dundee in their own home, sheltered housing or care home.

If you or someone you care for is convalescing, have difficulty getting out independently, or would simply benefit from getting library resources delivered to your door please contact the service - find contact details using the link at www.leisureandculturedundee.com/library/athome

Resources include ordinary and large print books, talking books and large piece jigsaws.

Library staff will call you initially to discuss your interests and let you know when your first delivery will be.

Your workshop hosts will guide you in creating seasonal mark making and paper-based crafts.  Easy activities for all the family to enjoy. Practical Plants sessions from Ninewells Community Garden #dundeewestend


Ninewells Community Garden has excellent Practical Plants sessions that all residents are welcome to attend.     These take place on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month from 2pm to 4pm

Come and get hands on working in the medicinal garden and learn how to identify and harvest plants that will have uses in supporting your health and wellbeing.

The gardening session for all abilities.
